AutoPro

Automated cultivation process for microalgae

AutoPro aims to develop an automated cultivation process for the extremophilic microalgae Galdieria sulphuraria. The aim is to recycle organic residues from the aquaculture industry, such as those from shrimp farms. AutoPro creates a process model in the form of a digital twin and enables real-time monitoring for a decentralised recycling process. Real-time monitoring is necessary to ensure a robust, fully automated and continuous process for recycling organic residues.

The specific objectives are as follows: Firstly, to develop a process model (digital twin) and automated process control for the cultivation of G. sulphuraria. Secondly, to develop options for circular resource flows and scale-up strategies in Vietnamese and German aquacultures based on this model. Thirdly, the establishment of a long-term research and development co-operation between the parties involved. Partners in this project are the Institute for Institut für Automation und Kommunikation e. V. (ifak), the Vietnamese – German University (VGU), the Vietnam National University and the Mylan Group.
